Type D is the bag for the hardest electrostatic case: a flammable vapour or solvent present, and no reliable way to earth the bag. The fabric is static dissipative and works by controlled corona discharge, so charge leaves the surface without a grounding path and without an incendive spark. It is the most expensive of the four FIBC types, and the one specified when a risk assessment says grounding cannot be guaranteed.
| Type | Type D, static dissipative, no grounding required |
| Fabric | Static dissipative PP woven with conductive filaments |
| Structure | 4-loop, open top, flat bottom |
| Safe working load | 500 – 2000 kg |
| Lifting | 4 corner loops, 70 mm webbing |
| Options | Coating, PE liner, discharge spout, document pocket |
| MOQ | From 500 pieces |
Safe without an earth — covers the case a Type C bag cannot: solvent vapours plus a filling point with no reliable ground.
Dissipative by construction — conductive filaments in the weave spread and release charge across the whole surface.
No grounding tag to inspect — one less failure point in a plant audit.
Standard handling — four loops and an open top, so existing filling equipment stays in use.
The body is woven from PP tapes with conductive filaments distributed through the fabric, so the surface stays in the dissipative range rather than insulating. Loops, seams and coating are specified so the dissipative path is not interrupted at the joints. Because performance depends on the whole construction rather than a single earth point, the fabric and the seams are both checked per batch rather than sampled at the end of the run.
Solvents, alcohols and flammable liquid intermediates
Powders wetted with flammable solvents
Plants where earthing at the filling point is not practical
Export shipments under a customer electrostatic risk assessment
Fabric weight, dissipative treatment, seam strength, loop pull strength and dimensions are checked per batch. Filled bags are drop tested and loops lift tested at rated load before shipment.
Type C if you can earth the bag at the filling point; Type D if you cannot, or if flammable vapours are present.
No. The dissipative fabric works without a grounding connection.
It is normally specified as a single-trip bag; reuse depends on your risk assessment and on the bag staying undamaged.
From 500 pieces per size and design. Compare all ton bag types before specifying.
